Getting started
GearShire connects people who list gear with people who request rentals. We facilitate booking and payment, but we do not own, inspect, store, or guarantee listed items.
Browsing listings is available publicly. Rental charges may include a GearShire service fee, and a marketplace fee may be deducted from a lender's proceeds. The booking quote shows the applicable amounts before a request is sent.
Browse listings or search by keyword. You can also use location, search radius, available dates, and daily-price filters to narrow the results.
Yes. You can send a message to a lender before booking and use the booking chat to coordinate the rental.
For renters
Select available start and end dates, review the rental quote, and send a booking request. You need a saved payment card and must accept the rental terms. The lender can accept or decline, and both parties receive booking updates.
Choose the available start and end dates that work for you. A booking, including any extensions, cannot exceed 30 days.
GearShire uses photo-based handover and return flows. The lender uploads handover photos for the renter to review; the renter initiates the return and uploads return photos for the lender to review.
During an active rental, a renter can request a later return date when the added dates are available. Added days are charged at the listing's daily rate.
Late-return charges may be added at completion. The system can calculate the charge using the listing's daily rate for each late day.
For lenders
Create a listing with a title, description, daily rate, pickup location, and optional refundable security deposit. Add at least one photo before publishing. You also need to complete payout setup before accepting bookings.
List gear you own or have the right to rent, and describe it accurately. Do not list items that are illegal, stolen, recalled, counterfeit, or hazardous.
Yes. You set the daily rental rate when creating or updating a listing, subject to the current listing limits.
Set up Stripe payouts to receive earnings. After a rental completes, payment is captured and proceeds are sent to your Stripe account; Stripe's payout schedule determines when funds reach your bank. Depending on the payout configuration, available earnings may also be withdrawn from your GearShire account.
Deposits and claims
Lenders may set an optional refundable security deposit. At handover, GearShire may place an authorization hold on the renter's card. If no eligible claim is captured, the hold is released after completion.
If a listing has a security deposit, the lender can open an eligible claim against it. A claim can capture some or all of the deposit, and damage above the deposit may be invoiced separately.
Yes. A renter can dispute an open damage claim. Disputed claims can be reviewed and resolved by GearShire administrators.
No. GearShire does not provide insurance and is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to an item. Renters and lenders should review the applicable terms and arrange any insurance they need.
